1

Seòrsa de achadh dhireach a tha 'fhàsta' aig an wheel (gu bheil, chan eil e comasach dol suas no sìos), ach tha e comasach dol suas is sìos aig ceann an transmission. Tha e ag èigneachadh na rothan dhireach dol ann an arc, seach a dhol suas no sìos, nuair a tha e a' dol thairis air buailtean. ann an cuid de chàraichean (beetles agus corvairs agus cuid de chàraichean Porsche tràth), dh'fhaodadh e adhbhar a dhèanamh air an roth a dh'fhàgail fo dh'fhàinnean an loidhne aig àrd-chuibhreannan.

2

A type of rear axle that is 'fixed' at the wheel (that is, it is not able to flex up or down), but is able to move up and down at the transmission end. It required the rear wheels to move in an arc, rather than vertically, when hitting bumps. in some cars (beetles and corvairs and some early porsches), it could cause the wheel to tuck under the car during high speed cornering.
